Ethiopian recognizes employees with long, dedicated service

(EBC, 14 February 2016) - Ethiopian marked Employees' Annual Service Anniversary and Retirees Day at an event held on February 13, 2016 at the newly built Aviation Academy Cafeteria.

The event was graced by Abadula Gemeda, Chairman of the Board of Directors, other board members and invited guests.

Every year, Ethiopian celebrates a colorful day to recognize and appreciate employees with long and dedicated service.

Such employee commitment is the major reason for the remarkable success of Ethiopian.

Retirees Day is also colorfully celebrated every year at Ethiopian.

This time, employees who retired during the just ended Calendar year after serving the airline for 40, 35, 30 and 25 years have been awarded money gift, certificates and awards of personalized plaques.

Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO, Ethiopian Airlines, has been recognized for his thirty years of service and notable achievements registered at Ethiopian under his stewardship.

"Ethiopian employees are the bedrocks of the success of our national flag carrier. I strongly believe that we employees are the competitive advantages that made Ethiopian a standout amongst the stiff global competition and ensured continued profitability," Tewolde remarked on the occasion.

"That's why we give recognitions every year and show our respect and gratefulness for employees who are departing with a lasting footprint, having served the airline relentlessly to transform Ethiopian into a Leading Aviation Group in Africa," he added.

"I would like to thank and congratulate our colleagues who are leaving behind the foundation for us, to which they have contributed the best years of their life," Tewolde said.

"We are proud of their accomplishments so far, and we pledge to keep the momentum with a greater magnitude."

Ethiopian airlines currently has more than 12,000 permanent, contracts and outsourced employees including expats.
